Why are Switch Witch and Operation Gratitude such fabulous partners?

Well, let’s start with the amazing mission of the national non-profit Operation Gratitude: “Operation Gratitude seeks to lift spirits and meet the evolving needs of our Military and First Responder communities, and provide volunteer opportunities for Americans to express their appreciation to all who serve our nation”. One of the ways they accomplish their mission is to annually sends 150,000+ care packages filled with snacks, hygiene products, hand-made items, and personal letters of appreciation to U.S. troops deployed overseas. Are Your Kids Ever Scared of Halloween?

Do your kids love the creepy factor of Halloween, or do the scary parts of Halloween - well, scare your little ones? If your child falls in to the category of “Halloween kinda scares me!” - it can be tricky (ha! no pun intended!) to avoid the creepy factor. In fact, this dilemma is part of the reason why we at Switch Witch set out to create a children’s Halloween product and tradition that truly feels like it’s for kids!

Year after year I searched for children’s Halloween books that felt age appropriate for young kids, and year after year I was disappointed. The illustrations were always way too creepy for my toddlers - or even for the first graders I was teaching! And don’t get me started on witch dolls! Yikes. That’s why our original little Switch Witch dolls are adorable and soft and cuddly.

So how do your kids feel about the scarier aspects of Halloween? Do your kiddos seek out the thrilling cobwebs and goblins, or do they make a face that says: “How dare you let me look at that”?!

Back To School 101

That dreaded six-letter word, SCHOOL, is upon us. Yes, it is back to school time already! Switch Witches everywhere have been spending the summer to find some of the most useful articles to help prepare for the busy days ahead.

The expenses of preparing for back to school can be a bit overwhelming. Switch Witches thought this GUIDE FOR BACK TO SCHOOL SAVINGS would be a great starting point. Mark your calendars, TAX-FREE SHOPPING is August 15-16, 2015.

Start developing some good eating and sleeping habits now. The first day of school is no time for a drastic adjustment of household sleep schedules. Instead, ease children back into a school year routine gradually. During the last two weeks of summer, re-introduce a school year bedtime. Begin waking late sleepers earlier and earlier, closer to the hour they’ll need to rise when school begins.

Once you have gotten your school-aged children up to prepare for school. Reduce your morning chaos by following this great MORNING ROUTINE CHECKLIST!

For some, the idea of starting a new school year can cause some stress. There are several ways to mentally prepare your child for this next step in his/her life. Switch Witches liked this SOUND ADVICE, offered by the American School Counselor Association.

This 4th of July, help Switch Witch show your SUPPORT for our troops!

Switch Witch is a supporting business of Operation Gratitude. Switch Witch wants you to help her. Operation Gratitude annually sends 150,000+ care packages filled with snacks, entertainment, hygiene and hand-made items, plus personal letters of appreciation, to New Recruits, Veterans, First Responders, Wounded Warriors, Care Givers and to individually named U.S. Service Members deployed overseas.

Their mission is to lift the spirits and meet the evolving needs of our Active Duty and Veteran communities, and provide volunteer opportunities for all Americans to express their appreciation to members of our Military. Each package contains donated product valued at $75-100 and costs the organization $15 to assemble and ship. Switch Witch wants to remind children everywhere that reading is not only the best way to stay “smart” during your school break, but it is also FUN! Reading during the summertime is one of her favorite past times - especially on a hot and lazy summer afternoon. Switch Witch likes to curl up with a good book on her hammock, nestled under a tree. She likes to read Halloween stories and fairy-tales about friendly ghosts and goblins. Casper is her FAVORITE friendly ghost!

Switch Witch Supports Take Your Dog to Work Day

Friday is national Take Your Dog to Work Day. So, don’t be surprised if you see a canine pass by your cubicle.

Both pets and people can enjoy the day, provided “petiquette” is followed, according to Wellness Natural Pet Food, based in Tewksbury, Massachusetts. Dr. Al Townshend, a staff veterinarian, offered some tips for setting ground rules aimed at keeping both furry visitors and employees happy. The national online Pet Parents Poll of nearly 1,200 dog and cat owners, which the company ordered, suggests that celebrating the holiday could make for a happier workplace.
