April Fools’ Fun for Switch Witch
Happy April Fools’ Day! Today is a day of self restraint for me…but…I am tempted by these cute kid-friendly April Fools’ Day pranks I just found on parenting.com I remember when I was a kid my two older sisters did the prank (included in this list) of turning a bunch of things in our house upside down. It was a blast actually. And clearly - it was memorable! We had a huge life-sized stuffed Snoopy which I couldn’t find that morning - until I opened my closet and it came tumbling out at me, feet first, in all it’s fuzzy glory. That’s pretty awesome to a 7 year old.

Switch Witch Studies Xylitol
Okay so I have heard of Xylitol but I know very little, so I did a teensy bit of research on WebMD. Here’s what I found there:
“Xylitol is a naturally occurring alcohol found in most plant material, including many fruits and vegetables. It is extracted from birch wood to make medicine.”
(Wow! Very cool. I had NO idea.)
“Xylitol is widely used as a sugar substitute and in “sugar-free” chewing gums, mints, and other candies. However, sorbitol is the most commonly used sweetener in sugarless gums because it is less expensive than xylitol and easier to make into commercial products.”
“As a medicine, xylitol is used to prevent middle ear infections (otitis media) in young children, and as a sugar substitute for people with diabetes.”
(Okay, REALLY?! I found that tidbit about ear infections fascinating.)
“Xylitol is added to some chewing gums and other oral care products to prevent toothdecay and dry mouth.”
